Hey folks
Could someone please tell me how I identify whether a brand new Q6600 (3.3ghz overclockers guarunteed) cpu is a "GO" chip or not I've looked all over the packaging but cannot see any reference's to "GO"?.

slacr written anywhere?
if so its a G0

you do know that 99+% of normal q6600s do 3.3 GHz dont you, all that the gurantee gives is that if it doesnt do 3.3GHz, you can send it back

look at the product code, the letters slacr should appear in there.
if you see sl9um, its a B3 stepping that went out of production a very long time ago, aprox 10 months ago i think

My mistake have just spotted "SLACR" thanks for the help, now I've got to decide what motherboard to put it in
I'm thinking about a new X48 rampage formula with zalman 9700nt cooler very sexy!
pointer keeps drifting towards the buy button.

what else are you planning to have in the pc?
that should help you determine the MB to get as the most expensive isnt always the best as you could be paying money for things you will never use such as raid or wifi. personally i will go with either a p35 or x38 chipset based MB

2x2gb 1066ram, 8800 graphics not sure which yet, bluray writer, 3x sata discs 10,000 rpm system disc.

Also if I decide to change cpu in 8 months I want full support of latest cpu's (within reason of course).

my abit ip35 pro gives me 3.18GHz form my b3 stepping q6600, and i havent even looked into playing with all the features. you should expect 3.4-3.6+ from a G0 with a p35 or x38 chipset.
