I feel a tool asking, but I just got my bits (CA 540r v3, MS 902i & Belden 5000UP); and I'm trying to install the unterminated cable into the speakers but I get the feeling they wont be making much contact.

- So far I have striped about 10mm off the cables (is this enough?)

- Unscrewed the speaker terminal and fed the cable in the through the little hole.

- Screwed the terminal back onto the speakers.

Is this right? I just doesn't seem like the cable will be making much contact with the terminal.

Thanks for any help.

That's right, but I'd strip a bit more, another 1CM should do. When you clamp down, the terminal screw down SHOULD NOT clamp onto any of the insulation. If your amp/speakers have banana, spades or camcon/bfa I'd recommend terminating with connectors, easier to disconnect and less likely to short something out.

Thanks, I think I will get some connectors; bare wires seem more of a pain in the arse than I was expecting.

Edit/ Also, there is a 'W' shaped metal piece between the HF and LF terminals; should this stay there because I'm not bi-wiring?

yep leave that piece of connecting plate there or youll end up just running the mid driver or tweeter on its own :D

/nice speekers by the way:cool:

You say you're feeding the wire down into the holes? This is incorrect - the holes are for using with banana plugs.

You should push the cable under the screw from the side/bottom.
