I have just installed a second 5850 on my ex-58a-ud5 (both in the x16 slots), connected the bridge, and enabled xfire in CCC.
Is there a way to tell it is definately working?
Also, in CCC overdrive? the second card shows 0% load and manual fan does not work? tried a reinstall of drivers to the latest 10.9 but no go.
I intend to do a full format and re install windows 7 64 next week so some answers on what is happening before i do would be appreciated.

The easiest way mate is to right click the ATI icon in your Notification area, select the No1 card / CrossFireX settings/ Show CrossFireX Status Icon. Than any app running in CrossFire will show the icon in the upper right corner of your screen:).

You can also use MSI Afterburner & monitor the GPU load.

Don't worry about overdrive in CCC not displaying fan & GPU load on the second card as thats normal, but as mentioned above MSI Afterburner will display them if you wish.

But u won't be able to have the 2nd fan running at a speed without it bring on a temp profile, ie you wont be able to have them both at 45% each card (

It's the same with my 5970, it is supposed to do this, it's AMD's revolutionary ATI PowerPlay™ power management technology delivering high performance features when needed and conserving power when the demand on the graphics processor is low. This industry-leading technology dramatically reduces the power consumption of ATI Radeon™ graphics family of products for the optimal balance between performance and power for break-through energy efficiency.

You're probably not an idiot like I was.....

but regarding the manual fan control in overdrive: Make sure you push apply after moving the bar. For a couple of weeks I thought the fan control wasn't working, until I clicked apply button and suddenly the fan sped up.:D
