How do I know if my CPU is overheating??

I've just bought a Freezer 64 for my A64 3200 (Venice core) and installed it (properly I think)
Is there any way of monitoring what temperature my CPU is running at to make sure it is fitted and working properly??

Oh, and can anyone tell me what sort of temperatures it should be running at?

Thanks....

StevieP

ps. I had to rotate my clip 90 degrees so it was aimed towards the back of my case and the side where you clip it down seems to be "leaning" towards the fan slightly when its clipped in place - is this normal??

Thanks for that, any idea what my readings SHOULD be?? (using coretemp btw)

I am getting:
TCaseMax - 55 degrees C
TDP - 38.2Watts
Core #0 - 34 to 36 degrees C

Normal??

I am not sure?? (bit new at this as you can tell)

Everything is running at stock as far as I know

CPUID: 0x20FF0
APICID: 0
Revision: DH-E3
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice)
Frequency: 2009.75MHz (200.97 x 10.0)
Platform: Socket 939
VID: 1.4000v

Any use??

Thanks for all the advice, I'll try it tomorrow morning and see how I go on.

So should 34-36 degrees be normal??

Thanks again...

I have run SP2004 using small fft's for around 15 mins - my temp hovered between 36 & 39 - I'm assuming this is pretty good!?!?

How long should you leave it for?

The longer you leave it the better, but if it just stops increasing don't bother.

Stability testing is mainly about testing it to YOUR needs. Some people make a huge faff about making sure their PC can run Prime95 or whatever for a week with no troubles, when they're only ever going to be using their machines for a few hours a day. A few hours should be the most you need.

Good!! :)

Hopefully that means the cooler is fitted correctly!! - Now I'm hoping I can overclock my CPU a bit??? (its dragging my system down a bit!)

Can anyone point me towards a beginners guide to overclocking an AMD A64 3200 with a Venice core??

Thanks again for all the feedback guys....
