right so i picked up used ryzen 1200 + b350m gaming pro, managed to get it working finally, i ended up buying 2 different ram sticks(was cpu socket locking issue in the end), a brand new 4gb 2400 ballistic white and a used red vengeance lpx 3000 which turns out to be part of a 8gb kit and bios reads it as 2133  and so just to make sure both slots work i put both sticks in, i shouldnt have a problem returning or selling the LPX, but while you shouldnt mix i thought id test this boards overclocking and while i selected xmp for the lpx to run at 2400, in the basic bios part it reads them both as their own speeds?

as nice as 8gb is, im not going to be gaming or anything on this yet, so 4gb be fine, but as the title suggests, how would i know if they are running at the same speed?

Setting XMP should run at the lower of the two speeds assuming both actually have valid XMP profiles.

May be that you have to manually set the timings to 2400 16-16-16 (speed of the slower ballistix white).

Thanks for replies.

Well the ballistic is rated at its 2400 and the fake 3000 lpx is rated at 2133 which I guess it’s meant to and thats all the bios is reading as though I didn’t xmp the lpx even though it’s active.

I did choose the ‘memory try’ option, but didn’t notice anything so put the xmp back on, the timings are 16-16-16-39 for both.

While I have inserted a m.2 drive I actually haven’t installed windows, so all this is based off the bios alone.

However I’ve decided I will try return the lpx after work, so I will just order another ballistic stick to make it easier.

It isn't "fake" 3000 - it's just it doesn't have any SPD ratings above 2133, or isn't recognising the XMP profile. If you manually configure the memory to 2400 16-16-16-39 it will likely run at that just fine.

i only say 3000mhz as thats what the label says, it is part of an 8gb kit but the shop only had the one lol, i did set the timings to those and unless i went back to the dram menu i wouldnt have known if they were running equal and i did save the OC settings before i moved from the menu, its not a usual bios for me, certainly not one with mouse requirement, ive seem simpler overclock menus, just have to learn it ha.

anyways ive returned the lpx and i have another ballistic 4gb on route for tomorrow, these are meant to overclock well, so i may have another play in the bios once the system is setup properly.

It’s not fake dude, 2,133 is the default DDR4 speed so when not configured/auto recognised in the bios that is what it will run as. If you configured it the RAM would run at 3,000, this is how memory works.
