How do I make an XP CD bootup disk

My laptop as gone bottom up, I am unable to initiate it. XP starts to load then blue screen, it then asks me to run CHKDSK and says sectors are currupt. I would like to boot up from a cd so I can check the hard disk but don't have a floppy disk reader, therefore I would like to bootup from a cd, but don't know how to create a bootable cd, any help would be appriciated.

Start the laptop into safe mode command prompt only (F8). Then run chkdsk.

I have tried that and it finds segments unreadable? I would like to bootup from a cd so I can get access to the hard disk so I can reformat.

Don't you have XP on a CD?

Yes but it will not boot from the XP cd, it needs to access the hard disc so it crashes.

Bios might need changing to boot from cd but it should.

www.bootdisk.com will give you what you need.
