Go to Start > and type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and hit enter, and show us the "Start Up" tab - we can then tell you what startup applications can be disabled.
You could try going into msconfig and the startup tab, hiding all of the Microsoft services and then disabling everything else that's left and restarting. That should give you an indication of whether it's an application(s) causing the delay.
Java
Quicktime
iTunes
msnmessenger (Although, I would open the application, and go to Tools > Options > Sign In and disable it that way - had an issue once, quick work around)
I've also found ZoneAlarm to do more harm than good. I'm perfectly happy with the built in Windows firewall and my routers firewall.
