hi all,

ive just got my 8800GTS and i used to OC my other nvidia GPUs with the coolbits forceware hack which doesnt work with the new drivers, well if it does i cant see it in the new crappy nvidia control panel.

i downloaded NTune to OC my gfx card so i pressed find optimal and everytime i get a grey screen and my system crashes, i tried selecting manual but it wont let me change the frequency and both manual and factory are selected, how can i OC my graphics card?

cheers

edit: card is a BFG 320MB 8800GTS OC2

Jusr for simplicities sake I use NVtray (Rivatuner for the more advanced stuff, ATiTool works as well). Enable all the options, I use use the old control panel, select the desired speed, all works fine.

how the hell do you select the old control panel, i hate the new one

In the control panel, click "View" at the top, and then select "Use classic NVidia control panel". I too hate the new control panel, it's just too bloated and difficult to navigate. It's as bloated as the XP Luna theme IMO which is why i use Classic (Another good thing is that it gives you those few extra FPS).

cheers but it hasnt worked for me, does it have to be hexadecimal or decimal?

All you had to do was change the 2's to 3's (or 1's)

Was no need to mess with the hex/dec option, it was on hex at default. :)

U can always use Nbitor and NVflash to edit the bios and flash to higher clocks, very easy to do and no 3rd party programs running in the background :)

Flashed mine at the wknd with slightly higher clocks, took a few mins to do :)

flashed mine a while back

600 core, 900(1800) memory and 1450 shader clock

lol works nicely and temps same.

card can do 660 core and 1000(2000) memory

ok im either getting incredibly excited or worried, im using NV tray tools as pictued above now i havent applied these settings i was just wondering does it actually test them or not as i dont want to bork my card?

Whats it say when you press apply? Something about testing? Shouldn't worry, it's never hurt mine if it's too high. It'll just freeze or glitch, if it does > reboot. 2d on the desktop doesn't stress it anyway. Just don't tick apply at start until you're happy its a stable clock!!

735? A tad optimistic?

auto detected at 620/935 which isnt bad i suppose
Nah, theres more, that always goes off low. Don't worry to much about the memory over 2000MHz it doesn't seem to do much for my scores/fps even at 2250MHz, just gets hot. As all the heat goes onto the same heatsink, it may even be worth running the memory lower to get the core higher
