How do I open my bonnet?

I've had a new engine fitted to my corsa (finally found where the coolants been going for the last 60,000 miles) and not been very knowladgeable with engines I've not had reason to get to the new one.
However I've blown a head lamp bulb today and need to fit a new one, now I know where the release handle is (i'm not quite that bad) but it no longer works, I guess the garage didnt re attach it when they put in the new engine.

So how do i open the bonnet? will sliding something into the area of the catch work?

I've not done 60,000 without opening it, at about 60,000 mile it started loosing coolant but never dripped and never overheated, when it reached 120,000 mile it finally gave up, well thats not true the oil light came on with 300 mile to go before i got home, oil level was actually rising though so i guess thats where the coolant went. I still got home and it went for its new engine the next day.

I've only done a couple of thousand since its new engine its a recon and cost me £400 and £600 for the fitting, I am aware i should just scrap it.

Its a corsa C I'll give the suggested methods a go.
 
I know how the bonnet opens, its just not been reconnected when it got its new engine, the 1st engine lasted 120,000 mile not 60,000, it just started having a coolant issue at 60,000. I would demand the garage fix the bonnet but I'm 200 miles from it and will be driving back in the dark, I'd like lights before I do that and I don't want to burn peoples eyes out doing it.
I do know where screenwash, oil, coolant and any other fluids go. I don't know how to fix them when there not staying where they should.

I'm not willing to tell you how many new oil filters/oil changes it had in that 120,000 miles

I think he means that I should be bored of a corsa by that distance and changed to something nicer, they're not exactly exciting cars.

Just takes me from A to B doesn't cost much to run (would be less if i looked after it) or insure.
 
As I said it would be cheaper to run if i looked after it, and the number of oil filters is 2. I should learn that a little bit of care will save me in the long run.

I know I've only myself to blame for the engine and I accept that, I don't expect sympathy for my own neglect.

I'm actually surprised it lasted so long, If I'd put a pound in a pot for every 100 miles it did I'd have had enough for a new engine and even a bit of change for an oil filter or two.

In my defence I do get things like brake pads done often and have fairly decent tyres on it and I don't drive like a lunatic and spend most of my driving time in 5th doing 70 on motorways.
 
I mostly wanted something cheap to insure when i bought it and was only driving 10 mile a day, my situations changed though and I do more long distance driving. I don't really want to buy a decent car when I'm just going to put loads of miles on it. As I've alluded to I don't know a great deal about cars and don't really have the confidence to buy a more motorway orientated banger, I would be quite easy to rip off with a car.
 
I agree that I would get more value but the amount of miles I'm putting on a car just makes its cash value plummet. If I bought a new car, in 3 years it would be a 3 year old car with a 100k on it. Would you buy that for a decent price?

When the time comes I'll be here asking for the advice of people who know better than me and I won't go to carcraft.
 
I'll probably keep it until it needs another big repair then get rid, at that time I'll ask for advice on what car i should buy and for how much.

Got the bonnet open by the way, so I've got 2 headlamps again, thanks to everyone who offered me advice on how to do so.
