How do I or can I connect 3 monitors to a single DVI GPU?

Hi guys.

Was wondering how one goes about connecting 3 screens to a desktop PC with an ATI card with only 1 DVI connector? I have DVI dual link splitter cables, VGA cables and VGA/DVI adapters etc but how would I connect it up. Obviously I can attach 1 DVI splitter cable to the GPU but that would only feed 2 screens wouldn't it? I've only ever setup dual screens, not triple screens but that was on GPU's that have multiple DVIs' or HDMI ports.

If the card only has a single output (dual link DVI) then you won't be able to run three screens. You can split the dual link DVI for two monitors but you would need to either as a second card or replaced the existing card with one that sorts more outputs.

You could also look at external USB displays but they don't perform that well from what I've read. Worth a try perhaps though.

I've seen usb to vga adaptors, not sure if they are used for extending the screen or just duplicating it but might be worth you searching for it!
