How do I overclock?????

I want to overclock my 1055t to 3ghz. I dont know how to do this  and I dont want to use Turbo V

Specs:
Amd 1055t 95w
Asus m4a89gtd pro
Ocz ddr3 1600mhz
Corsair H50 with stock fan

Any help is appreciated

EDIT: Also by overclocking will I significantly reduce the life of my cpu ?

Welcome to the forum :)

There's a very good overclocking guide at the top of this subforum. Ask more specific questions when you've read through that if there are things you don't understand.

A good overclock won't seriously affect the lifespan of the CPU. This is only a problem if you go crazy with the voltage, or let the temperatures get too toasty.

Thanks, I dont know how i missed that thread. What is the max voltage I should use for my 1055t, I undervolted it when i got it but I dont remember the stock voltages, what is a good voltage for 3ghz?

No idea, I've only ever overclocked on intel :D

If you reset your bios that will get you back to whatever the stock voltage is. Best advice I can give is don't set out with a rigid target in mind. All chips have slightly different limits. Raise the speed in small increments and test for stability and temperature at every stage. Only start increasing the voltage when you reach a speed that is not stable at stock voltage. That way you'll understand what you are doing and you are much less likely to fry something.

I bumped up the voltage to 1.1875 and dropped the ram voltages from 1.65 to 1.55 because the frequency dropped from 1600 to 1438 mhz. Is there any way i can make the ram frequency 1600mhz again ?. Also from i raised the fsb from 200 to 215 because the multiplier is 14.

OCCT produced graphs, I dont know what they mean but you can take a look for yourself, also I got the voltages from turbo v are they ok?

The RAM frequency is linked to the FSB, so when you change one you change the other. Don't worry about a small RAM underclock, it won't affect performance. I've never used turbo v so don't know why it's showing a different voltage. I've also not used OCCT so I can't help you with those graphs. Hopefully someone who has used them will be able to help you further.

Thanks blue, I have ended up with a voltage lower than what i started with (only by a little) I am now running at 1.071875 I originally ran it it 1.0875. I have tested it for 15 mins on prime so i think its stable. I have never seen my cpu usage over 40% so I think it will be ok. Also I noticed that the stock corsair fan can get quite loud at 1300rpm is there a good fan you can recommend that's quieter and will get better temperatures?

When I lower voltages from Turbo V it is stable but when i put the same voltage in the bios it is unstable. Which I think is weird. Also are my cpu/nb voltage, sb voltage , ht voltage etc. ok?
