I've just bought a Sugo SG05 system with Zotac mobo etc and I've got a SATA slimline dvd writer.

How on earth do you plug it in, the connectors on the back aren't standard sizes and it only mentions an adapter for IDE devices?

Ah I've spotted how it's done http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-032-AK&groupid=701&catid=48&subcat=196

How annoying, they could have thought to warn of this or include an adapter in the box
A much more elegant way of doing it would be to use the Addonics Slim SATA to USB converter http://www.addonics.com/products/io/adsssau2.asp, this would leave both SATA connectors free for other uses. Or, one could buy a cheap external USB slim SATA CD enclosure from ebay and use its board.

That's OK, I don't really like using USB devices if I don't have too, they have high CPU utilisation and are slow. The 03 revision of this board is going to have 3 SATA plugs apparently, that'll help those looking for RAID support! :)

Well, I have not tried the USB route myself, but speed and cpu utilisation would not be a problem for my rather casual use of CDs/DVDs. This would allow the installation of a SSD for the OS on my SG05 + 9300 ITX system, leaving the big hd for storage only, but decent SSDs are still way too expensive.
