How do I record from Freeview when it's built into my TV?

I want to build a cheap HTPC for £200 and intend to base it off MythTV and Linux.

Linux/Windows shouldn't make a difference with regard my problem: how do I record TV when my Freeview receiver is built into my newish Samsung LCD TV?

Will I need to buy a separate Freeview Receiver? Can I record to a HTPC HDD "through" the TV?

How does everyone else do it?

DVB-T PCI / PCI-e card in the PC is the easiest way.

Sorry. this is where I show how retarded I am.

We have one aerial in the sitting room. Do I have to choose whether this goes into this TV Card or the telly? I envisage much grief from She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed if her televisual viewing ergonomics are in any way inconvenienced by my HTPC construction.

y shapped adapter that will split your areial into two outputs.

you'll lose some signal strength but 1 split is usualy fine.

Oooo. Thanks. That's useful to know. You're certain signal strength isn't affected too much? If so then it sounds like just the thing.

Or a two socket booster if you have a low signal strength.
