Hi,

What program can i use to loginto a XP box, so that I can see the XP GUI?

What program do you recommend to have xp network shares permenantly mounted?

As you can see im a newbie :)

Use this to remote desktop into windows machines.

Not sure about permanently mounting shares but if you do Cmd+K in finder then you can connect to server shares. On my network at home I have my fileshare box set to the same IP permanently so that I can always use the finder server connect function to quickly connect to share. If your machine has a different ip on the network then maybe you have to connect using the computer name instead but I didn't have much luck with that. I can use the machine name to connect on the MS Remote Desktop tool but not connecting to shares for some reason.

thanks matey that looks like it will do the job!

when i have built the server ill give it a static ip through my router so it dont get confused.

No probs, you can try it using computer name instead of ip but i don't think that will work through osx. I'd be keen to know if there is anything to mount shares permanently on osx.

im sure i did this through samba a couple of years ago when i last experimented with osx.

I think I mounted them as network drives. I'll investigate

you gonna see if the auto mounting works now? :p

Will do when I get home from work. One problem I had before was when I enter a username and password to authenticate and I tick the box to add to keychain. Next time I mount the share I have to reauthenticate. Its weird.
