After installing msn messenger which I don't usually use I now kee getting msn poping randomly which viewing websites?

Connect to msnusers.com and requests I sign in with my passport? anyway to remove this crap ?

Hmm never seen this before.. when I read the thread title I assumed it'd be the 'MSN Today' pop up which comes up everytime you sign in unless you turn it off in preferences.

Tried going in to preferences to check if there is anything about pop ups in there? There isn't a toolbar that has been installed in your web browser right? You could try running Adaware I suppose.

It sounds like you're confusing messenger service with msn (post a screen shot of the messages tbh). To get rid of the popups, open up services.msc from run, find the messenger service, open up its properties, set it as disabled, and then stop it.

I have disabled all popups and autostart in msn but this popup doesn’t seem directly related to the actually msn software I installed.. It’s more like its woke up some dodgy built in crap. I did remove msn from the windows components which clearly doesn’t do anything.

Here you go...

The messenger service is disabled by default in SP2

I would not enter your details in that window, it could possibly be a new form of spyware.

Download HiJackThis (www.merijn.org) and paste a log file here, so I can take a look.

Dont use HJT to delete anything as you may cause system problems.

it could be a picture that someone else has linked to from their msn space or something..

what website do you get this on?

I get it on the futuremark forums.. Should I ask a mod there?

Messenger is quite hard to get rid of altogether, if you want too get rid of it and hopefully the popup, cut and past this into the run command.

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Make a restore point before you do this just in case.
