Hi,

Recently bought a new car few weeks ago and it has this silly sticker on the boot:

I've just tried peeling it with my nail however it leaves behind the outline, as you can see in the picture.

What's the best way to go about removing it?

It's three years old, I'm surprised neither of the two previous owners bothered to remove it. It's ugly and not even discreet!

Thanks in advance

Peel it all off with your nail and clean off the residue with WD40 or white spirits.

DON'T use nail varnish remover. The acetone it contains can utterly ruin the paint.

Hair Dryer to peel it off, then use an abrasive polish or a solvent to remove glue residue.

I picked mine off with my fingernails, and then got rid of the residue when I clayed the car about 6 months later :p

I hate dealerships/garages who put stickers like that on cars.
When I was looking around for the best deal on my new Octy vRS back in March I almost went to Vindis in Cambridge.
They put these silly little stickers on the car. Whilst we were discussing pricing I did say that I certainly did not want any stickers like that on my car.
Instead of getting a "No problem" response, the person I was speaking to had to "check with his manager that was OK to do".
Sorry - but no, should not require any discussion!

In the end I went to a different dealership who, in their words "We feel we're more professional and don't require the free advertising that Vindis think they need".

I cringe whenever I see such stickers on a car.

I've done a lot of de stickering as most vans that get traded have the crap all over them.
People are right that say use a hair dryer but there is a knack to it, If you try to peal the sticker off at the wrong temp or from certain angles it will leave a gluey residue, If you heat it well & throughout the panel & sticker then it will come off & leave a small dis colouration which can be T cut out & polished back up. :)
