My son as a Acer Aspire 4920 laptop. The screen as recently started to pixalate and there is horizontal lines running across the screen. If the screen is tilted back or forward this problem either improves or becomes far worse. I have diagnosed the problem and come to the conclusion that the LCD ribbon cable has become damaged. I have spent time searching google to try and find step by step instuctions on how to do this but had no luck. I have found instructions on how to change an inverter and can clearly see how to change the cable from the screen side, but am unable to find anything else.

Can anyone please tell me were I can get instruction on how to carry out this repair.

Ok from memory pretty easy on this one, take the screw covers off the bezel, either 4 or 6, the middle top two might not have screws behind, then take the screws out, prise the lcd bezel off, remove screws from side of lcd brackets and tilt the panel forward gently easy the connetor out.

Then there are some screws in the battery tray and posibly either side underneath that hold the strip cover on above the keyboard, or it might just pop off by prising it up from the sides, there maybe screws in the hinge covers also, once off you should see how the cable routes down past the hinge to the mainboard.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping for one of those little step by step guides with pictures. I've just ordered the ribbon cable and if I don't get one I'll be getting my hands dirty soon.
