How do I reset a Mac?

I have been given a 2011 Macbook Pro by my gf. I'm moving over from Windows. I'm quite new to Mac OSX. I think it has Lion or Tiger on it. The software updater says I can have a free upgrade to Mavericks.

My questions:
1. How do I reformat the HD, and install Mavericks?
2. Before my gf gave me the laptop she bought MS Office from the App Store. If I start from fresh, with my own Apple ID, how do I install MS Office?
3. I need a partition for Windows 7 or 8. I was told to use BootCamp. What's the best way to do this?

Thanks! :)

You won't be able to install Mavericks on a Macbook that old. Mountain lion or Lion wouldn't work either. I think the latest you can install is Snow Leopard.

To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:

iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)

I'm sorry for the typo! The Macbook Pro I have isn't 2001, it's 2011!!! I've updated the OP.

At the moment it has Mountain Lion on it.

1) Create yourself a USB/SDHC boot disk with Mavericks boot it like Windows.
2) You can't unless your gf logs into the app store with her ID.
3) With Bootcamp manager once you install Mavericks.

1. On boot when you see the white screen hold down cmd+R. You can then restore the OS and Macbook to factory default settings.

2. You will need to use her Apple ID to install MS office, from her App store account.
3. When signed into OS X go to bootcamp assistant then following the instructions, it is nice and easy.
