been bulking up for a while but now I have a belly and soon I want to lose it!

so what is a good diet to retain my muscle but drop the fat?

I've tried this in the past - yes I do lose the belly and fat but then I also lose the muscle and look a little scrawny.

what advice can you give me to achieve this ripped muscular look?

Keep the protein up and make sure you're lifting heavy to give your body a reason to hold the muscle you've got.

Basically all of this^

When I'm making comp weight, protein is kept over 200g, fats reasonably high and then kcals reduced. Heavy weights training as per usual, with perhaps some HIIT thrown in. Zero long steady state cardio.

I know a few people on the MP forum who gave Lyle Mcdonalds Rapid Fat Loss a go and got good results. You typically cut everything out apart from Protein, which you take at 1g per 1lb of body weight. Still take vitamins and fish oils (Recommended). You left heavy for 1 - 2 times a week, as you're eating 1000-1500 and working out as normal will just burn you out faster.

You 'will' lose a little strength, but just keep lifting as much as you can, dont try and increase the weight unless you want to try. Because of how much you're cutting out, you only do these runs for like 2-3 weeks at a time.

Then again, it depends how long you want to keep at it.

Complexes and big, powerful lifts tend to yield good results. I like 5 x 5-10 on complexes and a similiar format, with higher reps (say 5 x 10 - 15) for the big lifts.

Diet is paramount and has been covered. Avoid smoothies, juices, milk etc too (and booze ;) ).

Ant
