Hi Folks,
So I have 3 old monitors that i used to run with eyeinfinity using my old Radeon HD6950. I recently upgraded to the GTX970 but im having trouble setting up a third monitor to run. I can happily use 2 but plugging in a third causes all three screens to go off and if I boot with three plugged in it is ok until the windows loading sign comes on and it sets all monitors to sleep.
Im using nvidia driver 364.72 on win7 64.
Middle monitor is a vga cable with a dvi converter plugged into the dvi port marked VGA. Portrait monitor is dvi and is plugged into the dvi port.
The third monitor is dvi connected to an "Active DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI Adapter" made by Saphphire.
Is this where I'm going wrong? Do i not need the active adapter or should it be non active? I only bought it as thats what I needed to make my Radeon work with 3 monitors.

My rig is:
ivy bridge i5
Asus p8z68v-pro
Asus GTX 970 strixx

Thanks for any input

Well I don't have the asus 970 but I do have 3 monitors connected to my 970 fine. As far as I know 4 monitors should work on a single card.

Not sure why it is not working in your case but maybe try a DVI<->HDMI adaptor as they are passive and pretty cheap?

Also coming from AMD to NIVIDA in the past few months I no longer need to use an Active "Display Port" adapter I just connect direct to the card ...

Have you tried this ?

Ah ok, because its a dvi only monitor I need to buy another passive display port adapter then.
What does passive and active actually do?
I thought the displayport gave advantages over the other ports so best to use that no?

Thanks

I have not had to do this when I moved to this NVidia card as I also changed my monitors so I am using 3 Display Port connections that connect direct to each monitor.

Thanks guys. The issue was me using an Active adapter on the display port. I now have 3 monitors running on my GTX 970 using the two dvi ports and the display port. I bought a 2m dvi to displayport cable and all is good.
Thanks again
