I think you just sell your shares in it and then the new majority shareholder will own it.I have a company - a limited company - which has been dormant many years. So it's time to wind it up. But it occurs to me that the name is a good one and might have some value. How do I proceed?

Fun story: Years ago someone contacted me out of the blue wanting to buy a domain I own, as they were planning to launch a new range of drinks in the UK with the same name. I declined to sell and as far as I'm aware that new drinks brand has never appeared. Possible explanations:
1) They didn't actually have everything in place to launch their brand and their business plan did not get approved/funded.
2) They went ahead and launched, but changed the brand name.
3) I personally destroyed all their hopes and dreams.

Beat me to itSpeak for yourself.
Have you Trademarked the name?

What? But you told me you enjoyed it too? I feel used.I did no such thing to you kind sir and demand you retract this accusation…
I refused an offer of $25,000 USD to buy one of my domains 10 years ago - they were a medium-sized US software company.
Speaking of winding up a company with a good name - I'm about to do the same myself but not looking to sell it.
$25,000? I would have taken that offer!
No need. It's registered with Companies House and all such companies must have a unique name.
