How do I sell my PC?

Sorry if this is not the place to post this on the forums. I just need a bit of direction.

I need to sell my PC to get money for my next build. Is ebay or gumtree a viable option? It's a gaming PC, so faily high end (or it was three years ago), and often people looking to buy on those sites don't really care about the specs. Perhaps it's better to sell of in parts. Don't know really. Does anyone know of a site dedicated to selling used high end PCs, or are the sites I mentioned above the best/only way to go?

Apologies again for posting here - I don't know where else to go!

Many thanks.

In most cases your better selling the PC in parts rather than a whole, if you do decide to sell on either of those make sure you cover yourself by writing down serial number and taking photos just in case there is any come back.

We have a Members Market but its 1000 posts and 6 months membership.

You have a member's market forum here. Maybe you do not qualify yet. Look at FAQ, but I think it's 100 post, one month member, or something like that.
It used to be (I got in on 250 posts ^_^) Now it's as below

We have a Members Market but its 1000 posts and 6 months membership.

I prefer the 1k posts requirement

Ah, a 1000 posts...maybe I'll spam (joking). Thanks guys. Kind of need to sell it now. Can't really wait for 6 months. Thanks again.

us

1000 posts

I understand 6 months and 200 post but 1000 post is ridiculous!
Thats 14 post a day for 6 months!!!

Seems the power that be of Overclockers UK want market forum all to themselves.

Why not have 2 market forums. One for 6 month/200 post or maybe less and one for 1000 post members.... and 1000 post members are allowed to buy/sell only to members with over 1000 posts. ;)

Please don't use ebay. There's a thread on here somewhere with a member that had a real nightmare with an ebay sale.

The person got the new motherboard, claimed it was damaged, got photos off the internet of a different damaged motherboard and complained to ebay... what a mess it was

That's just one bad story out of many decent experiences. Ebay can have it's issues, and the cost is one of them (cost of auction, cost of using paypal) but can be easy/convenient, ie, no posting cheques off and waiting to clear. It's still a useful tool for selling. No idea how much something is worth? then let the eBay auction set the final price.

I've had only one bad experience using eBay and it was a very cheap item anyway so I refunded on return of the item and left it at that. I suspected person copied it and then broke it stating it was broke on arrival.

Not sold anything on the MM yet as affer lising items they've sold elsewhere but it has a decent-ish rating system and seems useful to use

Or you can check your local Facebook free selling pages. I just sold one of my core 2 duo PCs this week on there, and have the other one on sale.

At least its local ppl you can invite to check it first and they can pick it up from your place! No ebay nightmares or paypal delays, cash on pick up!

No It's about knowing who you are dealing with. If you have built up a nice reputation on the forum then you have something to lose if you rip someone off.

You could sell it somewhere like AVForums, either as a whole system or as components. There's a good classified section there. Although if you're not already a member I expect people will ask you to post first before payment.

Nice for the few who have been on forum for years and years. What about the member who lurk and only post once a day.... or once a week. I've been housebound the last couple of months so am posting a lot.. at least I think it's a lot of posting. But have been a member for just short of a year. (1 July 2011) So under normal conditions it will take me 5 years or more to have 1000 posts.

6 month minimum and 200 post minimum is reasonable. Could understand 1 year and 200 posts.

Sorry, but I see 1000 post count rule is more elistist then dealing with honesty, credibility or nice reputation.

And besides
