how do i send a file accross a network ?

i want to send a 700mb file from this laptop to the gaming pc, they are both connected to the same netgear switch via cat5, which is connected to a netgear router by cat5, yet i only get 30kb/s when sending it via msn.

both are on xp the pc is on pro but the laptop is on home.

any ideas please ?

ok view workgroup computers doenst work, both are setup on the same work group, both computers only see themselves and not the others

ok i rebooted it works now but when you click on the laptop one on the pc, the pc's browser crashes........... argh
