We have just bought a new LCD tv and wondered what is the best way of setting the picture up correctly?

There seems to be so many settings that I'm getting a bit lost :/ I'm used to colour, brightness and contrast, but this thing has a plethora of settings

It's way too bright and garish as it is (out of the box settings) and this is so they look 'good' in store (I think?), but it's too tiring to watch at home, if that makes sense?

Are there any websites with recommended settings for different tvs, or is it just trial an error?

I'd really appreciate some help - many thanks :)

Oh cat bottoms - I forgot about the Home Cinema forum - it's because it's not in the 'life' bit (that's my excuse!). Would a passing mod kindly move this for me? Many thanks.

It's a Samsung 40EH6030 :)

Go avforums and find thread with details there.

I've had a look there and there's only 4 threads that mention that model number and only one is specific to that model (the other three mention it within the thread).

Is there an 'idiot's guide' anywhere?

Many thanks :)
