I have an album file i made, but its one long mp3, I want to add gaps between the tracks. At the mo i cant flick between the tracks, how can i edit it, so there is gaps?

This is nothing illegal, its a mates band.

you could use a sound editor program and basically cut each song out and resave it (some will do a direct sream copy i.e. no re-encoding)

But the proper way to do it is using tools that can also handle CUE sheets. Some sound editors (e.g. adobe audition) have this feature as well. Don't know about audacity, though.

Check out this may be of use:

great link thanks :)

Couldnt you just use (whatever app) to add like Chapters to the track, like DVD's have but the audio equivalent, or don't tracks have this?..... just a curious question.

that would be a cue sheet as mentioned above. it's a simply a text file which you can set the positions of when tracks begin and end in a single mp3 file. then using a media player that supports cue sheets such as foobar, you can skip tracks as if it were a normal album. like this.....

particularly handy for mix compilations where true gapless playback is a must. :)
