Morning OCUK,

Our front lawn seems to be over run with buttercups, dandelions, daisies and anything else that can grow in the damn thing.

We have only had the house 12months and with being our first house I'm a novice gardener.

The grass is green with no brown patches etc, just a lot of undesirable weeds(?) growing. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent these growing and keeping the lawn as a a lawn?

Thanks a lot,

Russ

In the past I have used a lawn weed killer. Usually it's in granular form and you sprinkle it over the lawn. Then either wait for rain or use the hose to water it in.

Give it 3-4 days to kill the weeds, then rake all the dead moss/weeds away.

My dad once went full psychopath and crawled around the garden with a hypodermic needle & syringe full of weed killer, cutting out as much of the weeds as possible and injecting into the roots.

I must be a bit weird as I think daisys and buttercups look nice. Adds a bit of colour to the lawn and makes it look more like a meadow :D.

To stop Dandelions spreading all over your flower beds etc, make sure to remove the heads as they appear. If they go to seed they end up everywhere.

I keep meaning to dig a few up and roast the roots to make some Dandelion coffee.
