How do i tell what direct X my graphics card is using?

If I run DXDIAG on my PC is gives me Direct X 11 as the direct X version.

However I know that my graphics card (radeon HD 4850) is a Direct X 10.1 card

furthermore upon running EVEREST Home edition, it states that I have direct X 9c , under system summary...

how do I know what version my graphics card is using?

start > run > dxdiag

I think most games still run of dirext x 9 so your card will be using the coding from the game...
