How do I test my PSU?

Hi, after being told my PSU is the likely cause of my gfx card woes, I'd like to know how to test it to see if it's not putting out the 500W it's rated at. Is there any software I can use to monitor outputs while under load? Thanks!

all I can think is if you get one of those energy saving tools that monitors the power consumption of electronic products.

you'd just unplug your tower then plug this device in the wall and then plug the tower in there.

That sounds good. As long as it's not maxed out (which it definately wouldn't be given my system) then I can either show that a) my psu is faulty and needs an rma, b) my psu is not the cause of my gfx issues and I need to look elsewhere.
