Hello all.

I bought a BrosTrend AC1200 wifi network card for my PC and to turn it into a dedicated wifi hotspot for upstairs. My PC's primary connection is via Ethernet and I get about 380mbps through it as im on Virgin VIVID350. Now if I turn my wifi card into a hotspot via Network & Internet settings ill only get around 100mbps on my iphone. I've got a feeling the wifi card is sharing its connection via wifi. I'd like to share my Ethernet connection via my wifi card if thats possible? So in theory the traffic upstairs goes to my wifi card then routed through my PC's Ethernet connection, not the wifi card's wifi connection to the wifi router.

It's probably already working as you want i.e. Ethernet to the PC and then out via wireless. You can confirm this by temporarily disabling the wireless on the Virgin hub.

Why are you trying to do it this way? A wireless access point or router would make more sense and would work when the PC is switched off.

If you really want to do it this way what are you doing on the phone that'd benefit from a faster connection?

I wanted to turn my PC into a wifi router for my phone as I dont get a full signal upstairs.

Are you unable to get hold of an actual wireless router (or wireless access point)?

Did you try disabling the hub's wireless to check whether your diagnosis of the slow connection was correct?
