So i finally built my first PC, all went quite well :)

playing destiny 2 i seem to be getting quite bad screen tearing, when i move my character around or look around, even if i do it slowly. i was playing on medium settings and getting around 120-200FPS, and ive just tried on highest settings and getting 60-80FPS and its no different.

I have a RX580 graphics card and an AOC 144Hz freesync monitor, i think its this one

I'm connected with DP and have enabled DP1.2

I have enabled freesync in the AMD software, i had a good and it said to try setting a FPS cap, ive done those settings but it doesn't seem to actually cap frames (maybe as destiny doesn't allow things like MSI afterburner to work?)

In the screen settings i can't see an option to enable/disable freesync, or set a monitor refresh rate. on the third page over it says:
H. Frequency: 67KHz
V. Frequency: 60Hz

is this my refresh rate(v:60hz)? is this my problem? I've looked through settings and the manual but cant see how to set it.

also wheres a good place to start with calibrating a monitor? it came on 100 brightness and i think 50 contrast which was horrible, i used the windows calibrator and ended up with 0 brightness which was nice most of the time, but i'd like to have a play get it set up better.
EDIT just having a play before submitting this, seems a much nicer brightness if 'game mode' and 'eco mode' are set to off, is it ok to leave them turned off?

thanks in advance.
