I have a Acer B118-M. Here is the support page because googling it doesn't really show anything up and it is quit hard to find!
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/7825?b=1&pn=NX.VHSEK.004
The bottom of the case has a small panel with a HDD symbol on it. The manual describes this as:
However, considering my laptop has an soldered eMMC storage, the "main storage" is empty:
Note the markings for where the SSD would be screwed in (although it would need some kind of caddy...)
The BIOS has an enable / disable option for HDD1 in the devices menu. I disabled it but it still loaded up from the eMMC storage, suggesting that HDD1 is an additional storage.
The question is... what do I connect it to? My previous experience with laptop storage is the sata connectors are very similar to desktops but power and data connectors are found within one plastic mould so you just slide the drive in and out of both at the same time. It kind of looks like a "fake" one of these is present, on the left hand side of the image.
Any ideas what I do here? What is the little black connector on the right hand side of the image?
Also, under the white sticker in the above image is what looks suspiciously like an M.2 header without the connector soldered on...
Any ideas how to get an SSD in there?
