How do I verify my new X2 4200 is working in Windows?

OK I have the following setup:

Dual boot system - Solaris 10 06/06 and Windows 2000 Professional. I've just swapped my A64 3700+ for a shiny new X2 4200 and the bios recognises it immediatley. I boot back into Solaris 10 and I now have 2 cpu's .... this is too easy!

Wait a minute, Windows 2000 still thinks it is a Uniprocessor PC in Device Manager and Task Manager is showing only one cpu. Do I have to do anything else to Windows 2000 to get it to recognise the dual cores. How should Windows see a dual core cpu anyway?

Any help appreciated.

Have you installed the dual core patch from AMD?

In task manager does it show 2 cores?

Yes I have installed the patch/driver. Task manager shows only one cpu. CPUZ reports the correct cpu type but only lists 1 core/ 1 thread.

I spend 95% of my time in Solaris and use W2000 for games so excuse me if this is a stupid question by the way!

I think you have to right click 'ACPI Uniprocessor PC' in device manager and 'update driver' so that you can change it from uniprocessor to multi processor. Don't quote me on this though... I'm not sure.
