Ok I know yous will think im crazy, but I have never used a washing machine, I know how to turn one on and select what setting, but what confuses me is the seperating of cloths.

I have read a few sites and they just give vage answering like wash all whites, which is easy enough :p

But then it says wash all light colours and all dark colours but where do i draw the line between dark and light?

Does light include the bright colours like pink, yellow ect?

Does Dark inlude all the blues, black brown, even very light blues?

What about Jeans do they just do into the light/dark catagorie?

Sorry about the stupid question, but I want to help out a little with the washing, im sure you understand.

Thanks.
Chris.

Put anything white or made from a good material (silk, wool type stuff) in different piles. Standard jeans, tshirts, blah blah, of all different colours other than white (no matter how light) in another pile. If in doubt, check the label, but unless you have expensive clothes/clothes made of a special material, a simple white vs colours will do.

And oh my god, you are 22 and you don't know how to do this? What the hell? Do you know how to wash dishes? Do you know how to cook pasta?

I've been using a washing machine for the last 15 years, but I still occasionally mess it up  in fact, just yesterday I pulled a towel out of the washing machine which had changed colour :D

I've found the washing machine to be very easy to use, in the evening i'll get home from work and the clothes are already in and spinning away...I'm guessin the machine does it for me lol ;)

It does become frustrating tho when your wife isn't at home and you get home from work, look at the washing machine and ask yourself....why hasn't it started? Did i do something wrong? :(

:D

Personally, I don't separate whites and colours but then I'm a single bloke and that's how we do washing :p

If your Mam or Gf or whoever it is does the washing normally separates, you'd better do the same. You've already got the hang of the whites so that's fine. The colours should be fine together as long as you put it on a cool wash (40c).

Remember to check the labels as some stuff (usually ladies stuff) needs to be washed by hand and some delicate things like woollens need to be done separately in a delicates/wool wash.

I just through it all in and ive never ever had a problem :D

Expect for one time when my girlfriends mum has something that left purple marks on everything in the washing machine?

Separate towels unless you want crap on your cloths though

Quoted for truth, I generally wait until I have no clothes left to wear, then, confused as to why they've not washed themselves. I'll put as many as I can possibly fit into the machine at once with no thought as to colours and wash them. Sometimes I'll remember to check the pockets, other times not. It was rather amusing to see my old PDA spinning around quite happily in the washing machine. It still works fine though.

Don't put cotton, wool jumpers in the Dryer, I have a washer dryer and left the 10 min default dry on, went back to it, opened the door and all my jumpers were felt and all the size of gloves at the bottom of the drum I did a Vietnam "nooooooooo" as I had to buy them all again, t’was expensive, not going to make that mistake again :p

Sounds familiar :D

I did a wash yesterday and there was still a little room at the top of the drum so I managed to squeeze a pair of trainers in as well
