Go about finding out if a car has had an accident or not?

Is there someway of finding out at all? I know i can get a car check done to see if its been written off or not, but what about a small accident?

You can do a HPI check which I believe will record any accidents which have been declared. If you mean little car park bumps which haven't been declared to insurance companies I think the only way to find out about them is to ask the owner/seller or get a good inspection done by someone in the know.

you open your eyes.
look for tell the tale signs.
panel gaps of different sizes, colour mismatches, overspray etc etc.

the signs are there if you look for them.
