Hi,

I've got two partitions on a Hard-Drive: "OS" which has the windows install and is only 6GB size and "apps" which is 70 odd GB and is meant to hold applications.

However, When I try to install applications, they default to C:\Program Files\ and won't install to the apps partiton.

Question - how do I alter the default location of the "Program Files" folder so that when I install apps they go to the apps partition?

Open up regedit and goto;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

then change the ProgramFilesDir key.

When you install your programs, you should be given the option to browse to the DIR you want them installed too.... why dont you use that ?
Every application you then try to install, it prompts for the same location.

He wants to change the location altogether, so It directs to the other partition as default.
