How do you back up/archive your photos?

It's a part of my weekly backup run, dock a SATA hdd into my case and run sync, job done!

I also backup the Lightroom catalogue as well as my viewing directories (Jpegs) as that's accessed over wifi/LAN for viewing purposes when people/clients are round etc.

External HDD, I used to rotate with a hard disk taken to work once a week.
If you at all care about secure backups you definitely want some kind of off site solution and the easiest way is an external HDD you take to work or swap over with a like minded friend.

If your house is burnt/flooded/broken in to you will be thankful of off-site backup. In some countries it is good for the offsite backup to be in a different geographic area due to the incites of hurricanes and earthquakes, this is not really an issue in the UK.

We definitely need a life of Robbie thing :p

I need to sort out a similar thing though for backing up.

My back up happens I think, about once a term (every 3-4 months) :S

I keep a backup of my photo library on my Drobo. That backup then gets backed up to my Time Capsule.

Periodically I create a secondary backup that goes on an external drive which I leave at my parents house.

Finally, I also upload stuff to Flickr as a Pro member. So if I well and truly lost everything, most of my favourite work is on there as full resolution jpegs at least.

Online backup to crash plan. The main issues was it took almost a month to do the initial backup. Once that was out of the way it's manageable.

I also backup to a second internal hard drive.

Have CrashPlan backing up my "storage" PC to a local USB drive and on-line. I've got about 200GB upload to CP - god bless FTTC with 10Mbps upload!

I store everything on my hp microserver , which backs up to another drive overnight. But I also use crashplan, so I'm pretty much covered no matter what!

I backup to another PC. I've been looking at the likes of Livedrive, but uploading 1.5tb would take 6 months!

I'm terrible at this, only use Lightroom catalogue which is on external drive nothing stays on my main drive now.

Btw anyone thinking of using CrashPlan might want to keep an eye out as over Thanksgiving they normally run a sale for a couple of days at around 50% off ;)

usually save the photos to the HD then after sorting out the ones i want to keep back them up to a NAS downstairs but thats about it.

Lightroom catalogue is on Dropbox
Images and local copy of Dropbox is on RAID6 array on storage server, and backed up to 2 separate external HDDs (one is stored in a storage case in my detached garage, the other stays in a similar box in the office.

Lost a disk with all my images on many moons ago, cost and arm and a leg with a recovery company to rebuild the heads and extract the images so I overkill now.
