You can set the system to boot into safe mode in msconfig.

It's a slight PITA if you forget to change it back. It is also possible that by doing this you create an infinite loop where windows won't load because it won't accept safe mode following a system repair. The only way out of this is to use a recovery CD and edit the boot.ini.

No, i've never done this by mistake
