It's been over 2 years on and I can't put this game down for badness of it! I somethimes find I clock upto 4 hours without realising

Sit down, grab a cuppa and share your experiences :(

Any gaming addiction is bad. The only way to be truly free of it is to give it up completely.

Or, if you've got the willpower, set yourself a small amount of time to play it. Maybe on Mon and Tue nights give schedule a two hour session. The big thing here is to make sure you DON'T go over your scheduled time. It's about having self control ;)

I used to play an FPS called wheel of time. It was based on the Robert Jordan books of the same name and ran using the unreal engine.

I even set up my own clan and played it non-stop for around 3 years

Thing that was addictive about it was that there was only a small amount of players as it was never that popular compared to CS, UT etc. Which only made it more attractive as you got to know everyone you were playing with. Plus with only a dozen or so servers it was a really close gaming community.

With regard to your problem though I only stopped coz I got bored, so you may have a way to go yet. But why give up a good thing.. albeit I did stay up to silly hours to play against americans in clan matches which was bad for the missus.

Wow..people actually played Wheel of Time? :)

It sounded damn cool but by the time I tried it, the community seemed to be long gone :/

Uninstall learn to live without it for a few months.

Re-install and play sparingly :D

The problem is not being addicted to the game but its being addicted to the fact that you think that you are GOOD at the game LOL

Once you learn how to play for fun and not to be the best you'll be free :)

I delete the game content, that way when I want a 'quick' game of CS, I have to wait 2 hours to download it again :D ...and usually don't bother.

i grabbed a copy of CS 1.6 and was dissappointed lol. i was so crap at it i just gave it up. lol. I'm used to being quite good at FPS's, but CS hates me :o. therefore i'm not exactly addicted to it lol.

i find BF 2142 for addictive than css, the thing with BF 2142 is that once i gained a rank and an unlock i wanna play more to get the next unlock and the next etc.

ive been addicted to css since the start, i used to play every spare min i would get, even when i was at college, i would drive home during free's and play i then go back to college..... (the misses at the time hated it lol, but i shut her up with warm tea and the sky remote)

but now i only play causualy, mostly i browse forums now, im a big gamer, but ive learnt to control my self, like it was previously said, self control is the key.

just dont bother with the game if you only have a hour before your going to do something, or even better, if you got 5 hours spare, calla mate, organise something and go hang out.

You think CS:S is addictive?

Try EVE :p

Think it was calculated to train EVERY single skill in the game to level 5 would take around 30ish years.

But since then, more skills have been added.

play harder until your keyboard and mouse breaks
