How do you change ISP (ADSL)?

My mate has a crap ISP, can't remember off the top of my head, probably TalkTalk or something.

How do we go about getting him moved over onto BT, with minimum downtime.

Think you need to speak to BT so they can place the order, then speak to his current provider and tell them you wish to cancel and would like to request a MAC code, once they've generated it they'll either text it, send it in the post (lol) or email it and you can give it to BT who will hopefully be able to switch him over with only a few minutes of downtime at the most. Process will probably take a week or two I'd imagine.
 
Get the MAC code from TT first, I wouldn't expect the ISP you are moving to accept a migration order without the MAC.

I'm not sure if it's different for BT, but I recently switched from TalkTalk to Sky and I spoke to Sky first who dealt with TalkTalk on my behalf. :)
