Picture above, same price when Samsung not on sale. The tracer runs with higher voltage, but look's so sweet. Kinda reminds me of my old Corsair XMS PRO DDR 400. The tracer has nice timings for the price, the Samsung is CL11 at 1600MHz? Crucial is CL8 @ 1600 1.5v.

I haven't had Samsung ram before, don't know what to expect from their customer service but I am interested in the Samsung because the performance is supposed to be great. I've had Crucial before and RMA turnaround was ok but every last stick I've had of Crucial has failed after a year. Don't know if this is the case now, which is why I'm asking.

This is where I'm stuck...I have good case cooling, and memory doesn't need heatsinks at all with airflow. I've seen good clock results from the Crucials and they look so great. You can get them clocked at 1866Mhz 9-9-9-27 and 1.5v. Ram just doesn't get hot enough to worry about that side of it.

I think the Crucials will look so good when I get the fractal side window for my case.

samsung gets my vote,im running a set at 1.55v and 2133mhz,they dont get hot at all plus the low profile helps if you have a huge cooler,it will run rings around the crucial

They can both comfortably fit under the D-14.

2133Mhz 1.55v sounds nice though, what timings can you get at 1866Mhz? Have you had any experience with sending ram back to Samsung? Crucial are alright at replacing sticks from my experience.

That is really appealing...thank you wazza.

I just thought the Crucial's would make my board look much more interesting, look really retro if you use the right settings.

just go with whatever takes your fancy, its really down to each motherboard and cpu aswell regarding how well they overclock,so theres no 100% guarantee they will clock the same

The Crucial comes guaranteed at 1866 CL9 which is more than what I was aiming for, and could probably tighten the timings, I think I will go for it because I like the idea of orange LED's in a slow sync, just eyecandy.

You saying the above puts my mind at ease, I suppose it doesn't matter which one I get, the thing that puts me off buying the crucial's is the dirt cheap price of the Samsung this week.

Yes, my motherboard is dated, only supports 2 slots of DDR3, but 4 of DDR2. I can't really upgrade to Ivy until I have the money for it but a ram upgrade is needed for BF3 and it's affordable. 1866 CL9 is good enough for me, I am only a gamer after all and not a benchmark addict. :D Thanks for the help!

I hope you get some good clocks on it :) Some people can get over 2.4GHz which for bare RAM is crazy :p
