How do you choose your intel cpu?

A CPU clocked at 5Ghz can be slower than one clocked at 3Ghz.

clock speed isn't the be all and end all, for one different CPU's can do more work for every clock cycle so even if CPU A is running lower clocks than CPU B CPU A may still be the higher performance CPU, this refers to as IPC "Instructions per Clock" my Ryzen 1600 is faster at 3.9Ghz than the Intel i5 4690K @4.5Ghz its replaced. it also depends on the application, my 4690K had 4 cores 4 threads, the Ryzen 1600 has 6 cores and 12 threads, a lot of the workloads and applications i use these CPU's for the Ryzen 1600 is massively faster, at least double the performance because it has a lot more worker threads.

As it stands Ryzen has about = IPC in high threaded workloads to Intel's latest CPU's and about 8% less if the CPU is only used lightly.
