How do you clean a camera lens?

Hi guys,

Yesterday I received a Leica D-lux 5 as a present, having never previously owned a camera before in my life. This morning (in China) I touched the lens accidentally while outside trying out the camera. On the screen, I cannot see the finger print and it doesn't seem to be affecting image quality. Bear in mind I probably have no idea. So, do I find a way to clean it, and if so how? or do I leave it because it seems to be doing no harm?
Sorry for the nooby question

Yup, blower for dirt, spray/cloth (or brush in those toolkits) for anything else. As long as it won't scratch.

That said, you can worry about it too much. I saw an article not too long ago with some photos taken on a completely smashed Canon lens, they were fine - as long as you didn't put it in a position where the sun would be coming in at the side or shoot wide open or something like that.

I've got a "hama lens cleaner" which looks kinda like a marker pen but with a very fine gentle brush on one and which is retractable and a curved soft pad on the other end, which has a cap on it. I noticed that the curved pad has some black powder on it, which I'm not sure if its meant to be there or not lol. Cleaned an oily fingerprint off of one of my lenses without issue though.
