A friend of mine gave me an old core 2 duo system that he had lying around...

I've taken the side panels off to get a good look at what I'm dealing with and I was confronted with one of the most dusty systems I have ever seen... I've done the typical paint brush, compressed air and hoover thing on most of the components but it is still caked in dust and grime.

What do you guys do for a more thorough job?

Alcohol wipes would be your best bet I reckon, Obviously strip the dirty thing to bits first.

Compressed air does a great job, big tower type coolers, i wash using the shower then dry in the airing cupboard. Best way ive found to get between the fins.

I honestly switch the hoover up to max and get the nozel in there, does a pretty good job of sucking dust up without actually having to touch anything. Best idea to completely clean it would be to take it apart, clean each individual corner and component then rebuild.
