How do you completely disable e46 alarm?

I think its the hot weather as I had this last summer. How the crap do I stop my alarm from randomly going off? I do the lock then hold the button while watching the light under rear view mirror thing but the alarm still kept randomly going off.

Is there a switch somewhere I have missed where I can just turn the ****ing thing off? Obviously want to keep the immobiliser on. Car alarms are the most useless things ever invented. If they are going off they just irritate people or get ignored.

If you have the same problem as me, then Its because the bonnet is expanding. lifting slightly, and releasing the switch that alarms the bonnet. There is a very easy fix for this - its a small rubber 'nipple' available from BMW (made by 3M iirc) that attaches to the bonnet and pushes the switch down slightly. Problem solved!

In the short term, I believe if you press the lock button on the key fob twice it locks but does not alarm the car. I cant remember if this is completely correct, so someone else might be able to confirm?

Funny you should say that, last time I went out to see if its anything obvious I opened and closed the bonnet. Not gone off since.

Can you tell me where the switch is? Maybe I can tape it down or something

Yes, you can tape it down. Its over to the left as you look under the bonnet. Its a plastic push down switch - it should be obvious.

Just unplugged it Ok fingers crossed I dont come home from work with a axe through my windshield now from annoyed neighbours.
