ok, so i got the M6900. looking at the box it says its got on-the-fly DPI switching, tilt wheel functionality and 5 programable buttons.
so.......what does all this mean. i know that obvs its why people buy them coz it makes games better, but why would you change the DPI on-the-fly? and what does the tilt wheel do? also, what do people program the extra buttons to do, swap weapons, reload etc?
damn a mouse can be confusing

I've only been using a 'gaming' mouse for short while myself. I only use the extra buttons in FPS - Melee attack on my thumb for a quick response and lethal grenade on my other 'less easy' thumb button.

So far I have yet to use them in any other type of game...

ok thanks. im used to using a 360 controller, but really want to get into FPS games now i have a pc for gaming. controller is ok for footy and racing games but want something more for FPS. picked up the M6900 as it was cheap so will give me an idea as to whether i will get on with it. if so i can look at a better one if required. can the scroll wheel be set to cycle through weapons and stuff?

Many people bind mouse buttons to commands in mmo games, there was some controversy a long time ago about people getting banned for this in world of warcraft, I think theres no problem anymore.

wont be playing MMO games, dont have the time or patience.

well i just completed L4D2 in less than 2 hours :( admitidly on easy but still. no restarts and no team member deaths. i had been playing it with a 360 controller and never got passed the bit where you have to get coke. made a big difference playing with mouse, but it does mean i now dont need to play L4D2 again :(

Wanna borrow my tinfoil hat?

Edit: You realise this is an internet forum? :p

i use it on my laptop as i couldnt care less if i get a virus on it as i only use it for net so factory reset will fix it. dont want to spend hours setting up the pc and installing everything for the sake of being beaten on multiplayer games.
