As above,

what order should you do your mods in, and how do you choose what to get?

currently, im trying to plan out how id like to mod the puma.. and to be honest, im confused as to where to start !

the car as standard is known for its good handling and brakes... so...

do I do all these mods first, and then move onto the engine.. or do I do the engine first, and then do *** brakes and suspension last?

my plan was to do the suspension, then brakes, then engine....

rite?

basically, i dont see myself doing anything too crazy... but I MIGHT supercharge it if the guy at work can sort out a reasonable price (he's looking into it now) no idea what sort of power that might give tho...

if I just go nasp, it'll be about 160 bhp (40 more than stock)

I guess the best thing to do is to ask the owners clubs what they recommend.. anyone know what the big puma owners club is?

cheers for the posts guys :)

Duke - the induction kit, does it sound much nicer? I love the noise it makes at about 4.5k rpm, and would like to make that louder, without being deafened and loosing power ;)

Evo - yeah, I crashed the focus, ford offered me a great price for my focus even with the crash damage, so ive gone for a 1.7i Puma (believe its a 'Thunder' Special edition) ... really chuffed, collect on thursday eve

It sounds very throaty when pushed :) If you drive 'normal' it will sound like stock, but if you plant your foot, it sounds awesome.

I can email you a small video my mate took on his phone which gives you the idea, if you wish :)

that would be awesome :)

I've missed the thread but I assume that you're getting a Puma?

If so then sort the brakes first, they're abosolutely dire as standard. Apart from that it's just down to personal preference. The arch gap on Pumas is huge so I'd probably suggest getting it lowered but be careful what kit you choose as it would be a real shame to ruin the superb handling of the car with some cheap set of springs.

oh right...

on the one i bought the RAC check said the brakes needed attention.. felt like warped discs, so I requested new discs, pads and fluid as part of the pre sale service (as well as it having a full service) .. if this doesnt sort it out and its still not great ill look into a decent brake setup.

suspension wise, if I do go for anything, dont worry, ti wont be cheap springs :) im not going to destroy a car with whats described as near perfect handling by getting some halfords own springs ;)

They are all very close.. you are only really talking 1-2bhp realisically. I have the Pipercross Induction Kit which is about £80.. but I've heard good things from K&N too. AFAIK a panel filter won't give as much noise, but is a lot easier to fit.

fair enough :)

got to get to used to a petrol as a daily driver again first, when ive got that sussed, ill start looking seriously in to what I want to do :) lets get the floormats ordered first ;)

was going to get some of those philips blue vision bulbs at the same time.. they any good?

From what i hear they are great a friend swears by them but i think my bulbs are better, could be the car lens unit since mine is newer.

My boss has just got a puma for his wife, he brought into work today for me to listen to a noise on it.

When you blip the throttle it makes a short induction noise(like u get with cone filters) from the inlet manifold area. Is this normal ?

no idea.... ill try tonight if you want?
