How Do YOU Define Fan Boys?

i really don't know why people bother arguing over which games console is better. it's a console, get over it. buy the one with the most games that attract you, play it, be happy.

I'm with you on that one! It's really pathetic. I don't think fanboy-ism exists, I think it's all about trying to justify purchases. Consoles cost a lot of money, so people don't want to admit that another may have an advantage in one area. Because of this, they get very protective over their purchase and develop tunnel vision.

Probably ********, but never mind. ;)

This is true but you get people who defend the things before they are even released.

its just like everything else out there - fanboys exist outside of games; see movies, music, books, art, jesus etc.
I used to think that the diversity that was represented within the fairly insular enthusiast scene was a great thing. These days with every other thread/discussion hijacked by a series of lame attempts to answer an unanswerable, and therefore irrelevant, question - i'm starting think it might be more symptomatic of the current immaturity of the games scene.
All societies divide as they grow, and usually they get more and more radical, herein the fanboy is born.

fan boy: knows everything about his chosen subject - never needs to offer any proof (with the exception of from his favourite blog/wiki entry).
Refuses to pay any attention to anything anyone else says - you could argue that the sky is blue in real life and he would argue it isn't because his favourite game has it a funny red colour.

Hehe :).

Also, try not to confuse a fanboy with a troll. There are a lot of both around this forum in particular :p.

Caring more about what other people are buying and playing and why rather than their own game playing.
