How do you do darkroom/infrared images?

Just out of interest, how would one go about creating a photograph like the one below? Do you need a film camera, or can it be done with a digital camera? I really love the style, but have no idea how its done.

I'm probably wrong but I hear Canon cameras aren't too good for IR as they block out a lot of it (unless you have a modified one).

This is true of the Canon G series cameras, but not of their SLRs. It depends on what the OP is shooting with. You can find guides on how to remove the offending bits on the internet anyway.

Im not using anything great. Its a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3. Got it second hand offf my dad for very cheap and its perfectly fine for what I need(for now)

I love those shoots. can some actully explain what i really need to get those shoots? Is it somthing that fits onto my lens i have now or somthing like that?

Yep, it's just a filter and attaches to the lens like a polariser or a UV filter does.

IR Filter on your len. a sturdy tripod and a remote shutter is the best way to do it :)

No shudder in images then. :)
