how do you find out whos playing when?

What sites/magazines do you use to find out about gigs and stuff? Still got a fee weekends free in the summer.

Yeh im signed up with ticket master, but dont seem to get much from them.

Is there a ticketmaster office in Bristol? Theres one in Cardiff, and the entire front window is covered in dates. Try and find one!

i always have a good nose at the venues i go to to see what's coming up. some of the better stuff isn't very well-marketed. get down your local venues, or give them a call/check their websites.

i'd check the Bristol Academy if i were you. the Carling Academys normally have some wicked shows on. (and some crap ones but you can ignore those)

The Glasgow scene is pretty much sewn up by two companies who also run a good few of the pubs + clubs, makes it easier to find out dates etc.

Other than that, papers and the bands oficcal web-sites. I dont buy mags anymore, as they are just 5-7 quid worth of laminated dross.

i generally check seetickets.com every day, they have a section where they only put the new dates that have been annouced so you dont have to wade through everything you've seen before.
Also worth checking venues websites that dont sell through seetickets and also use ticketweb for some venues as well.
Looking at bands pages can also be pretty helpful as well...

this is for more lower end gigs in pubs and what have you. so if you want to see big name acts then this isnt the right thing.
