How do you fit temp probes?

Hi all

I have just bought a temp and fan controller. It comes with temp probes for the HDD, VGA, CPU and CASE. The sensors themselves are really small and thin, but I am just not too sure as to where to position them for the HDD, CPU or VGA.

Thank you in advance for any help.

I'm not sure about gpu+hdd's but for CPU try underneath it (if there's a hole in the socket that is, 939 chips don't have a gap).

Thanks for your reply Zefan. I have the E6600 CPU on a P5B Dlx M/B. When you say underneath the CPU, do you mean underneath the mounting socket?

I'm new to all this so not too sure. As for the HDD's and GPU I was just thinking of sticking it actually onto the component (away from any copper piping or fans).

Personally for the videocard I'd just stick it on the underside of the heatsink as close to the GPU as is possible. For HDD's I'd just whack it on the top metal bit.

When I say under the cpu I mean in the gap in the socket where their aren't any pins, I'll try to find a picture.

:edit: ah I've just been looking and it appears 775 sockets would get a little messed up with that sort of thing. In your case I'd stick it to the heatsink as close to the chip as you can get, same as the GPU basically.

Ray,

It's really funny you have posted this question because I have just turned on my laptop to ask exactly the same question as I have the Akasa Fan controller pro.

This comes with 4 sensor probes which as you say are flat copper ends which come with stickers to fix the probes. I am also confused as to where to position these probe ends as the instructions are very vague to say the least.

Where would you put the CPU probe? I have an Intel quad & an Asus P5N32E-SLi motherboard?

Where would you fit the case probe?

Where would you fit the hard drive probe?

Where would you fit the PSU probe?

My other question is I know it can control upto 4 fans but I am presuming case fans only which are 3 pin.

I would like to control the CPU fan but that is 4 pin?

If anyone has one of these controllers any help would be appreciated.
